Personality: As a baby its shown to have an affectionate nature, but this is shown alongside the sinister way it eats. Ayana's hatred and malice drives Irys, and it was her influence that caused it to massacre her village & adoptive family and to attack Gamera. Irys' development was warped by contact with Ayana and it would not have been hostile otherwise. So Irys is basically a hero on the wrong side only looking to exact his beloved mother’s revenge.

Origins:
When the Gyaos where devastating the ancient Atlantis a creature was developed for the destruction of the harpies but the way for the creature the grew and eveloped made a failure, so it was dropped for the gamera project. The creature however would become the Ryu-Sei-Cho.

After Ayana Hirasaka lost her parents to the guardian monster Gamera in a freak accident, she vowed that she would exact her vengeance. One day, she discovered a small creature as she was walking to a shrine. The intriguing entity appeared as though it had no parents at all, so Ayana raised the young creature with a mother's love. "Irys" was the name she gave this odd little pet. As time progressed, Irys attempted to do something extremely strange and upsetting; it attempted to merge with Ayana. Tatsunari Moribe managed to save the young girl before this terrible event could transpire, and Irys proceeded to take his leave after she was ushered away. The awful being began to victimize the populous, and it absorbed the life from whatever it could. Eventually, Irys grew into a monstrosity, the likes of which the world has never before seen...

Baby Irys grew into its adult form where it'd complete its vow of revenge against Gamera for Ayana.

After being denied Ayana and attacking her home village, Irys began to grow in size. When the creature was discovered, it was quickly attacked by a small military unit, but guns and rockets simply bounced off its hide. Seeking Ayana, the young girl it wished to merge with, Irys took to the air and approached Kyoto.

As jets trailed it, Gamera also entered the fray, wanting to halt the incoming holocaust. The massive beasts entered combat, but Irys would not be denied so easily again. Using its laser cutters to weaken Gamera, Irys pulled ahead and entered the city. The mighty Gamera was not far behind and the turtle and the ancient enemy once again entered combat.

Irys impaled its massive spear into Gamera's gut and both plunged into the Kyoto station. The mighty guardian was knocked out, allowing the deadly monster to absorb Ayana. Foolishly ignoring its surroundings, Irys began to merge with Ayana on the inside, but the kaiju didn't see the form of Gamera rise up. A reptilian hand stabbed inside Irys' body, gripping Ayana, and in a cry of pain, Irys impaled Gamera's hand into the wall of the structure.

Gamera looked on as Irys began to drain his blood and two of its tentacles lifted up, glowing with his plasma energy. In a desperate move, Gamera fired on his own arm, removing it completely, but allowing the reptile to catch both of Irys' plasma fire balls. Gamera plunged the plasma fist into Irys, the resulting explosion decimanated Irys completely, ending its threat forever and freeing Ayana of both her hatred for Gamera and the revenge of Irys.

Suddenly, Irys was alive. His cranial orb pulsing with light, salvaging the organisim into brand new baby form wich was discovered by a girl named Ai Maeda who like Ayana before her raised the creature on her own with mother’s love for hers had been slayed by the Gyaos.

With the Gyaos and Gamera II and III dead peace was brought to the world and the new Irys stayed a playful little creature… but when the terrible Garasharp appeared fate force Irys to take sword in hand once again
